WHAT TO EXPECT

Dental Implants Surgery

Dental implant surgery involves placing titanium posts into the jawbone to replace missing tooth roots, then attaching lifelike artificial teeth. The surgical approach depends on your specific implant type and jawbone condition. The key advantage of implants is their solid foundation, which develops as bone grows around the implant over several months of healing.

Procedure Step-by-Step: What to Expect

    Pre-Procedure Prep

Your day will start with the surgical team. Once checked in, the surgery team will bring you to the surgical suite where you will meet both the surgeon and anesthesiologist. The surgeon will review the plan of treatment with you and answer any remaining questions that you have prior to starting surgery.

  • patient receiving anesthesia while getting dental implants

    Anesthesia

IV sedation will be started by the anesthesiologist. This allows you to be comfortable and unaware during the entire surgery. Local anesthetic will be given to ensure you are pain-free during surgery.

    Surgery

The steps below are meant to illustrate a typical dental implants surgery: (1) Removing damaged or decayed teeth requiring replacement. (2) If needed, bone grafting in order to strengthen the jawbone foundation. (3) Preparing the site by making a small gum incision to expose the jawbone and drill a precise hole for implant placement. (4) Placing the titanium implant post into the prepared site. And lastly, (5) Closure – suturing the gum tissue over the implant site to protect it during healing.
